Extend your Health Insurance Plan in Vancouver
As a resident of Vancouver, your provincial health insurance, driven by BC’s Medical Services Plan (MSP), currently covers you for:
- Medically-necessary services provided by physicians and midwives enrolled with MSP
- Medically-essential services provided by a referred physician or health care specialist
- Maternity care services provided by a physician or midwife
- Diagnostic services such as x-rays, requested by a physician
- Medically-necessary dental and oral surgeries performed in-hospital
Residents eligible to receive MSP premium assistance (eligibility based on net income) are still required to co-pay for such services as:
- Chiropractic therapy
- Physiotherapy
- Massage therapy
- Naturopathic care
- Acupuncture
- Nonsurgical podiatric treatments
Only certain medication costs for qualifying B.C. residents are covered under the province’s subsidiary PharmaCare Prescription Drug Program.
